UPDATE: No damage to Leningrad Reg oil refinery from gas burst

MOSCOW, May 25 (PRIME) -- A gas burst accident at facilities of the oil refinery Kinef of Russian oil and gas company Surgutneftegas in the Leningrad Region city of Kirishi did not hurt operation of the plant, a representative of the Energy Ministry told PRIME on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, a source in the region’s emergency authorities said that a burst of gas and air mixture happened at an oil storage depot during gas-welding operations killing two people and injuring two more.

“According to data of Kirishinefteorgsintez (Kinef), a burst happened during an inspection of a reserve flare line of the plant. The incident killed two members of the gas rescue team. The operation of processing units was not affected,” the representative said.
